ICE HAWKS – Next Level Hockey
ICE HAWKS academy teams train on the ice as a full team 4–5 times per week, depending on the game schedule.
To ensure maximum intensity, focus, and quality, each session lasts 60–75 minutes. Additional on-ice sessions are added as needed (e.g. pre-game skates, special teams practice, or specific skill development).
Meetings are held in the locker rooms before and after practices to increase the overall value and effectiveness of player development.
The ICE HAWKS philosophy encourages players to gradually adopt modern hockey principles and apply them independently during training, improving personal performance while increasing enjoyment of the process.
Position-specific training for goaltenders, defensemen, and forwards is conducted weekly.
ON-ICE TRAINING – SMALL GROUPS / INDIVIDUAL SKILLS (ICE HAWKS)
Morning practices provide players with an excellent opportunity to focus on individual skills and personal development needs.
Depending on academic schedules, players may participate in 3–4 morning sessions per week with ICE HAWKS coaches.
Video recording and analysis are frequently used during morning sessions to maximize the effectiveness of individual skill development.
Key focus areas of morning / individual sessions:
- Development of individual on-ice skills (skating, puck handling, shooting)
- Development of individual tactical skills (positional awareness)
- High number of repetitions with emphasis on correct technique
- Low-pressure, positive environment ideal for improvement
- Hockey IQ development by breaking the game into segments
- Focus on small but crucial game details
- Encouragement of creativity and independence
- On-ice skill testing and evaluation conducted during morning/individual sessions
ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT & EDUCATION – ICE HAWKS
ICE HAWKS encourages players to value education and understand its importance while balancing the demands of professional sport.
The goal is for players to successfully complete secondary education with strong academic results. Players arrange their education independently through online programs, with secure internet access and dedicated study time provided within the arena.
Players may choose from various high school education options based on individual academic needs and interests. Each institution has its own admission requirements.
The academy philosophy supports the development of professional student-athletes capable of combining education with elite hockey development.
MENTAL PREPARATION – ICE HAWKS
Monthly one-on-one meetings with each player focus on setting individual principles and goals.
Mental readiness is a critical factor in athletic success, and special attention is given to building mental resilience, confidence, and self-belief.
PHYSICAL PREPARATION – ICE HAWKS
Physical development, strength, and conditioning training are a core part of the ICE HAWKS academy, especially during the first two years of the U18 program, preparing players for transition to U20 and senior hockey.
The training program is designed to develop abilities required by modern high-performance hockey players, ensuring safe and efficient progress.
Players learn to monitor heart rate, threshold levels, and recovery capacity. Emphasis is placed on proper warm-up activation, rehabilitation, and post-training recovery to reduce injury risk.
Training includes exercises focused on strength, endurance, coordination, and mobility, always under professional supervision.
The entire team has access to video software for performance tracking, evaluation, and shared feedback between players and coaches.
Physical testing and evaluation take place four times per year: fall, winter, spring, and summer.
ACCOMMODATION & NUTRITION – ICE HAWKS
Elite athletes require balance between training, rest, and proper nutrition. Many programs fail to provide adequate housing and nutrition, which can hinder development.
ICE HAWKS focuses on three core pillars: safe and comfortable accommodation, healthy and balanced nutrition, and sufficient rest and recovery. At the beginning of the season, players are educated on healthy nutrition, lifestyle habits, and sleep routines.
Players are accommodated two per room, supporting social development, teamwork, and cooperation.
The academy also teaches practical life skills that promote independence, discipline, and effective daily time management—essential for success both on and off the ice.
